About the Classic and Historic (C&H) Motor Club

The club was founded in 1977 with the stated aim of catering for and promoting, an interest in classic and historic vehicles.

The club currently has in the region of 400 members.

A range of events including social and competitive runs, weekends away, visits to places of interest and occasional trips abroad are organised from April to October every year.

Pre-booked monthly ‘Icebreaker’ lunches are arranged in a selection of country inns from October to March every winter including a ‘New Year Trundle’ in January.

Typical C&H events attract around 25 cars (50 people).

The club hosts two major events  during the year – The Mendip Tour in May (see Mendip Tour page) and the Cotswold Classic in September (see Cotswold Classic page).  Both events are open to non-members and cater for around 150 cars.

Eligibility for most club events requires that a vehicle must be at least 30 years old as at Jan. 1st of the current year.

The club has a mix of pre and post war cars and a good selection of modern classics.

Annual membership costs £25 per couple (family and single rates also available see Membership page) which includes receipt of the clubs monthly magazine ‘Classix’ which contains among other things, articles on past and present events and information and entry forms for future events.

The C&H Motor Club is affiliated to the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) which represents the classic vehicle movement at national and international levels.

The club is run by an elected committee which meets once a month and holds an AGM every March.
