The C&H at Ad Astra Cider near Cheddar.
Ad Astra Cider is a new cider company based in the heart of Somerset. Founded by an RAF Veteran and his family, the name “Ad Astra” is proudly derived from the Royal Air Force motto “Per Ardua Ad Astra”.
Ad Astra Cider is made from traditional cider apples, picked, pressed, and fermented on site within 12 acres of beautiful apple orchard. Never from concentrate, the cider is made from freshly pressed juice and is naturally slightly different each year dependent on the environmental conditions during the growing season.
The trip will start at Hartley’s Cafe Bistro, Binegar for signing on. Tea/coffee and a croissant will be served from 10am. We plan to leave Hartley’s Cafe at 11.30 for a short, leisurely drive to the cider orchards. Following our, pre-ordered, lunch we will be given a guided tour of the orchards, returning to the barn for tasting of four ciders and one non alcoholic juice. The bar will be open during our visit.
It is hoped that there may be the possibility to see a demonstration of the cider press in action.
