Pub Crawl

THIS year our event is again going to be a basic, fun, scatter rally, with pub-connected questions (mostly).
The start will be at The Monkton Elm Garden Centre, Monkton Heathfield, Taunton, TA2 8QW (on the A3259, north of Taunton). The café will be open from 10:00 am for tea or coffee.
The idea is that it will be a leisurely start, so the first car will be away about 10:30 to 10:45 am. You’ll then have 2½ hours to visit as many of the scatter points as you wish—answering pretty simple questions to prove that you actually visited the places—before finishing at The Allerford Inn, Allerford, TA4 1AL, where a carvery lunch will be served at about 2:15 pm. The lunch information and entry form are on the following pages.
Just in case you haven’t done one of these before, this is how it will work:
- A basic, small-ish scale map with the places marked, along with a list of the places, will be provided at the start. You might also wish to bring OS Landranger maps 181 and 193 if you want a bit more detail (sorry, the area borders two maps!).
- Points are awarded for each place you visit and get the question correct (the points allocation will be on the places list and the organisers’ decision is final!).
- The winner will be the one who scores the highest points within the 2½ hours (there will be penalties for being late). You will not be able to visit all of the places within the 2½ hours unless you break all sorts of speed limits – so please don’t try!
- There will be an overall (but small) prize on the day, and the event will count towards the C&H Club Championship for this year (hopefully!).
The event is open to non-C&H members as well, for a nominal £5 charge (to cover temporary membership for the day to meet MSA rules). So if you know anyone that has a club-eligible car but hasn’t joined yet, get them to come along and give the C&H a try!
