Crumbs the summer is motoring along! The club has had a lot of successful events already – and there’s still more to come – see the Calendar page for what’s coming up!
The club’s magazine “Classix” always has a great deal of interesting articles – including write ups of recent events and editorial from Committee members, not to mention updates from our FBHVC representative as to what’s going on both politically and from a research point of view in this very important organisation for classic car clubs and owners. The Classix page has been updated with one such article from a recent event.
One of the major stories currently unfolding in the club is whether the age limit for cars should be lowered from the current 30 years old to 25 – or possibly even 20. There is a voting slip in August’s magazine and it is really important that ALL club members take part in this please! Here’s the headlines from Classix:
As published in the June edition of Classix, We, the committee, have been discussing additional ways in which we can attract new members to our club. To this end we have discussed lowering the minimum age of club compliant cars from 30 years down to 25 years (Classified as Modern Classic) providing a lot more accessibility and a gateway for the younger generation to join in with our hobby. 2025 would be the year at which we as a club
could fully represent the cars of the 20th Century.
We requested your feedback in both the June and July editions and have received some feedback which was published in the July edition under Letters & Emails (page 8), both suggesting that we should consider lowering the minimum age of cars to 20 years.
A change in our rules can only be made if we get ≥66% of the votes in favour of a change. To this end we request that you now vote for what you would like to see happen!
And the last thing – don’t forget to get your entry in for C&H Stand at the Castle Combe Autumn Classic race weekend – we will be there Saturday 20th only.
