April 2025 Update

The clocks go forward tonight as this is being written! And we’ve had the Spring Equinox – it’s all go!

The C&H AGM was a great success, and it was great to see so many members in attendance. We have a few roles coming up this year – Vice Chairman, Social Secretary, and Membership Secretary – so if you want to get more involved with the C&H, let us know.

The end of April sees our first event proper with the C&H Drive It Day run – this promises to be a great day out, so if you haven’t got your entry in yet – don’t hang about! Here’s the official overview of DiD in case you didn’t know:

A Bit About the FBHVC National Drive It Day
National Drive It Day was created by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs in 2005. It is the occasion when historic vehicle enthusiasts and the public at large have the opportunity to celebrate the One Thousand Mile Trial organised in 1900 to prove the viability of the new invention, the motor vehicle. It’s also a chance to raise awareness and support amongst the public for the historic vehicle movement and keeping transport heritage on UK roads.

The Mendip Tour is hot on the heels of DiD – the entry list is full, but the reserve list is open as there are always a few who drop out nearer the time. The entry forms are still on the Mendip Tour page if you would like to go on to the reserve list for 2025.

One other item of news this month: there is now a C&H Youngtimners subcommittee whose role is to look at ways to encourage younger members to join the club. This includes looking to get an Events Coordinator role off the ground, looking at events that might interest younger members, and even looking at younger cars… maybe! More is coming soon on this.
