AS may be recalled, Motorsport UK’s rules do not allow us to run a scatter rally/treasure hunt without special licences. This year will be a run of 25 miles or so, followed by a carvery lunch, after which we go our separate ways.
Signing-on will be from 10:00 am at Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, BA22 7LH (just off the A303 on the A359). We have negotiated a reserved car parking area in front of the entrance and there will be a desk in the reception area. The café (and Museum) will be open from 9:30 am for coffee and/or something more substantial if needed. Cars can leave from 11:00 am onwards, although our suggested route should not take any more than an hour.
No doubt most will have already visited the Museum, but there ought to be time for a wander round, as we have booked the lunch carvery between 12:30 and 1:30 pm.
As it’s Drive-it Day and the idea is to drive, drive, drive, you can get to the lunch venue how and by whatever route you want, but we’ll be supplying a ‘suggested’ route to The Crossways Inn, Stocks Lane, North Wootton, Nr Wells, BA4 4EU (tel: 01749 899000) – about 25 miles.
The bar will be open from 12:00 noon and lunch will be served from 12:30 pm. As this will be a carvery, everyone cannot be served at the same time, so please be patient.
By the way, it’s probably best to bring a road atlas – no reliance on sat-navs, remember!
