Drive-it Day
Sunday 24th April, 2022
Drive-it Day returns to the Club after an absence of three years, albeit that Motorsport UK’s rules do not allow us to run a scatter rally/treasure hunt without special licences.
Signing-on will be from 9:30am at the East Somerset Railway’s Cranmore Station (just off the A361, about 3 miles east of Shepton Mallet) and cars can leave from 10:30am onwards, although our suggested route should take just around an hour and a quarter.
We’ll be giving the Club’s new gazebo its first outing, so bring your coffee flasks and biscuits, or buy something in the station cafe and wander round. We’ll also be running a fun treasure trail around the station site (at the time of writing 24th April is a steaming day) with a nominal prize for the winner! Give yourselves enough time and arrive early!
As it’s Drive-it Day and the idea is to drive, drive, drive, you can get to the lunch venue how you want and by whatever route you want, but we’ll be supplying a ‘suggested’ route up the Mendips, down Cheddar Gorge and across the Levels to The Duck, Station Road, Burtle, Bridgwater TA7 8NU (01278 238282) – about 30 miles. However, please get there by 12pm (noon) to be sure of a space in the car park. Lunch will be served at 12.30pm.
By the way, it’s probably best to bring a road atlas – no reliance on satnavs remember!
For any further details please see Classix Magazine.
Closing date for entries: 9th April, 2022
(Please book early as places will be restricted due to the size of the car park)
